Speaker 1:

Well, you're going to want to kiss them after this See that's how it's done, by the way.

Speaker 2:

Oh, I'm not sure if you picked up on that.

Speaker 1:

Hold it now. Hold it now.

Speaker 2:

Okay, get the show going. What do you got?

Speaker 1:

Okay. Well, the reason why we're going to be talking about kissing medicine today is because it offers a wide variety of health benefits.

Speaker 2:

Not a narrow, but a wide.

Speaker 1:

A wide variety.

Speaker 2:

Okay, let's get into this wide variety of kissing benefits.

Speaker 1:

Did you know this, though? Like physical and emotional.

Speaker 2:

Well, you know, I've experienced it. I've Two wives, maybe threes. I have experienced it on multiple occasions with you, so I'm interested in seeing what science you have to back up what I'm actually experiencing.

Speaker 1:

Part of what makes us work is that we both like to talk shit.

Speaker 2:

Always.

Speaker 1:

So that's good banter.

Speaker 2:

That is good banter. We have to be careful, because sometimes talking shit keeps us from kissing.

Speaker 1:

Okay, here come the excuses.

Speaker 2:

Excuses, those are cautionary tales honey buns.

Speaker 1:

Watch where you use this honey buns.

Speaker 2:

Let's get into the show. What do we got?

Speaker 1:

Okay, well, kissing offers a variety of health benefits.

Speaker 2:

A wide variety, both physical and emotional. Yeah, we got there, okay.

Speaker 1:

Here are 10.

Speaker 2:

We're going to give you 10 today Empowered Posse, 10 notable advantages, Notable I would say you know what, when I was thinking about kissing and you said a wide variety, I was thinking about four or five, but 10?.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, 10. 10 is wide and also we're going to play a game today where I'm just going to blow your mind.

Speaker 2:

What the foog is coming out.

Speaker 1:

Yep.

Speaker 2:

Okay, here we go.

Speaker 1:

All right. So number one is going to be stress reduction. Did you know that kissing decreases cortisol levels, helping to alleviate stress and promote relaxation?

Speaker 2:

helping to alleviate stress and promote relaxation. I can see how that runs out in the event that, like kissing, requires you to be connected with someone else, right? So a lot of times when you're kissing someone, your hearts are in proximity to one another, so I can see how that actually has a positive effect on both kissers. You know what I'm saying Both kissers you know, because, well, they're both giving and receiving kisses. So you know it has to be the kissers, not the receiver.

Speaker 1:

The kissersersers yeah the kissersersers yes. So it is partially that you are deep breathing too More on this, okay. Number two improved heart health.

Speaker 2:

Okay.

Speaker 1:

Yes.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Engaging in kissing can lower blood pressure by dilating blood vessels, which enhances blood flow and supports cardiovascular health.

Speaker 2:

Oh, wow. Well, you know, every time that you and I are like really having some good kisses, my heart is the happiest.

Speaker 1:

Well what I want you to know is that if you want your wife to be less stressed and have lower cortisol levels, which means that, like my hormones will be balanced you just got to like give me proper kisses.

Speaker 2:

Proper kisses. Hold on, let me write this down Proper kissing, proper kisses, hold on.

Speaker 1:

Let me write this down Proper kissing Proper kissing and I'm going to get into what proper kissing is.

Speaker 2:

I just think of you. Know MC Hammering across your lips. You know proper style. I don't know what that means, but I'm going to say no, I'm not interested in the follow-up commentary.

Speaker 1:

My lips are too legit to kiss. You know what I'm going to say. No, I'm not interested in the follow-up commentary.

Speaker 2:

My lips are too legit to kiss. You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 1:

Oh, I see what you did there. Here we go. Okay, keep going. Another reason we don't kiss hey how dare you ma'am? The dad jokes Like oh disgusting.

Speaker 2:

Let's get into it.

Speaker 1:

The dad jokes I'm like oh disgusting, let's get into it. Just kidding, I'm kidding, you make me laugh and I always want to kiss you. Actually, I always want to kiss you, except for when you are in a bad mood and you get like fish face. I don't like that.

Speaker 2:

Oh, we're going into the negative.

Speaker 1:

That's not kissable Are we having fun yet, yeah, no.

Speaker 2:

I'm going to pass up my.

Speaker 1:

Okay, pull it together Breathe. Number three Enhanced immune function.

Speaker 2:

Okay.

Speaker 1:

Enhanced immune function. The exchange of saliva during kissing exposes you to new bacteria which can strengthen your immune system by encouraging the production of antibodies.

Speaker 2:

That's beautiful. Would that be the case if the more people you kiss, the better, the healthier you are? Or is it more just kind of one-on-one?

Speaker 1:

I'm just asking and this is the episode that ended the empowerment couple I still got a pen in hand.

Speaker 2:

I'm still writing things down, okay.

Speaker 1:

Yes, please go, kiss lots and lots of girls and women.

Speaker 2:

Listeners, listeners, you've been writing this down right, and I'm kidding, no.

Speaker 1:

Like what do you want me to say to that?

Speaker 2:

It's a joke, honey, it's a joke. Okay, I know that the more people you kiss, yes, you do have.

Speaker 1:

You will increase bacteria, for sure. Yes, you want that germaphobe Some are positive and some are negative.

Speaker 2:

You know what I'm saying. And no, as a current germaphobe no, no, kissing booth for me, kissing booth.

Speaker 1:

Yuck.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, that sounds awful.

Speaker 1:

Number four Okay, number four Pain relief. Did you know that kissing releases endorphins, the body's natural painkillers, which can help alleviate headaches and menstrual cramps? So, like you know, when I'm on my cycle, you can just give me a full-on make-out sesh.

Speaker 2:

Got it.

Speaker 1:

And then bada-bing, bada-boom.

Speaker 2:

No period cramps.

Speaker 1:

Yay for me.

Speaker 2:

I will try that that one actually has been written down.

Speaker 1:

I don't think you're right.

Speaker 2:

I'm going to tattoo that on my right hand. Oh okay, let's try that out.

Speaker 1:

Do you? We're just going to roast each other the entire time.

Speaker 2:

No, no, no, no, there's no roasting the mood has changed. You know what, though? You have some fiery lips, so when I kiss you, I get roasted. Is that cute?

Speaker 1:

Nope.

Speaker 2:

Number five.

Speaker 1:

We're still in the same place, All right. So five calorie burning. A passionate kiss can burn between two to 26 calories per minute.

Speaker 2:

Oh, wow.

Speaker 1:

Contributing to energy expenditure. So like, basically, if you want to lose weight, if you want to have good immune function, if you want pain relief at all times, but also during your period, if you want improved heart health and what I say stress reduction, like basically, hello, like-.

Speaker 2:

Get yourself someone Get some kisses, get your makeup such in Get some nice lips and get in there.

Speaker 1:

Yes. All right, all right, so let's play a game.

Speaker 2:

Oh, is it time for what the fook?

Speaker 1:

It is time for what the fook?

Speaker 2:

My mind has shown up to be blown. Have at it.

Speaker 1:

Can you say what the fook?

Speaker 2:

What the fook I guess.

Speaker 1:

Okay, here we go. What the fook?

Speaker 2:

What the fook?

Speaker 1:

Okay, so number one. Here's your. What the fook Okay, so number one. Here's your. What the fooks Okay. A whopping two-thirds of people tilt their heads to the right when they kiss.

Speaker 2:

Oh.

Speaker 1:

Okay, isn't that trippy.

Speaker 2:

I'm all thinking about it.

Speaker 1:

Right, let's come in for a kiss.

Speaker 2:

It all depends on if you have a hat on.

Speaker 1:

Which I always do and I always hit him in the forehead with wait a minute. Maybe that's why you're not kissing me enough.

Speaker 2:

Ah Ah yeah, the hat of death, the forehead.

Speaker 1:

The forehead says no, I don't want the brim of the beating brim, it's a brow beater. Okay so French kissing involves 34 facial muscles.

Speaker 2:

Oh, wow 34.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, whereas a peck, you know, like that shit, just guess how many.

Speaker 2:

Two yes.

Speaker 1:

Two facial muscles, that's it.

Speaker 2:

Versus 34. Up and up and bottom, yeah.

Speaker 1:

Versus 34. Versus 34.

Speaker 2:

Well, I mean, the first part is you have you involving your tongue and anything that involves your tongue. You have all the other muscles in your neck that support your tongue and your jaw, and then you have your eyes.

Speaker 1:

So, like it's like necessary, like if you're going to be in a relationship, you better be kissing? Yeah, because it's better be kissing.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Because it's like yes.

Speaker 2:

Okay, continue. My mind is somewhat blown, but not like totally what you got.

Speaker 1:

All right. What about the world record for the longest kiss? What do you guess?

Speaker 2:

Two hours.

Speaker 1:

Oh, no, no honey, the world record.

Speaker 2:

Okay, two years.

Speaker 1:

Okay, what do you got? Okay, split world record. Okay, two years. Okay what? Do you have okay, split the difference 50 hours, 25 minutes and one second and it was labor right there. It was recorded. Yeah, it was recorded in thailand on in uh february 2012, so probably a valentine's day right there.

Speaker 2:

Let's go book a freaking journey For your ass 50 hours. They know how to kiss in Thailand.

Speaker 1:

Seriously, do they? Do you want a French kiss?

Speaker 2:

or a Thailand kiss, or a Thai kiss. There we go. I want a Thai kiss.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, for 50 hours 50 hours later Exactly. Okay, want to know this. This is for you Men who kiss their wives before leaving to go to work.

Speaker 2:

Which I do all the time.

Speaker 1:

You work from home, you don't need to go to work. I know.

Speaker 2:

See how it works, keep going.

Speaker 1:

No, I don't remember some morning kisses when you go to your office. I don't, but anyway, here's why it's important.

Speaker 2:

Why it's important.

Speaker 1:

They live five years longer. I mean, if you're into all that, you know what. I'm saying If you're into longevity you're going to live five years longer if you kiss me every day, yes, before you go to work.

Speaker 2:

That means you. Yeah, I'm going to extend your life.

Speaker 1:

Your life.

Speaker 2:

My life Men.

Speaker 1:

Men, men who kiss their wives.

Speaker 2:

Oh, wait a minute. Say that one. I think my mind is being blown right now. Hold on, I thought I was kissing you to save your life. I'm kissing to save my life. We're going to have to do. Read this one.

Speaker 1:

We're going to have to do a podcast on listening, listening medicine.

Speaker 2:

Shh, we're talking about the mouth right now.

Speaker 1:

Okay, well, listen with your ears. Men who kiss their wives before heading off to work live up to five years longer.

Speaker 2:

Okay that I, like, I'm going to give you a kiss real quick. That's an extra five years, right there.

Speaker 1:

Okay, so kissing, I think it's like before you leave to go somewhere, so when you know you do other things besides, go to a job like when you leave.

Speaker 2:

I'm going to leave the microphone for a second. Now I'm back, guess what.

Speaker 1:

Time to kiss.

Speaker 2:

Five years more. What else you?

Speaker 1:

got Okay, so with an average of four kisses per day. Okay so, with an average of four kisses per day, germany ranks second behind Sweden on the list of countries that are stingy kissers. Stingy kissers Four kisses per day is considered stingy.

Speaker 2:

Wow.

Speaker 1:

People in France and Italy do much better. They kiss an average of seven times per day.

Speaker 2:

Okay.

Speaker 1:

So in Germany four.

Speaker 2:

Where does Thailand sit?

Speaker 1:

I don't have that data. Okay, just a second.

Speaker 2:

Well, I never really thought about.

Speaker 1:

I'm not your research assistant.

Speaker 2:

I've never really thought about being a stingy kisser. I don't want to be a stingy kisser. Well, you are.

Speaker 1:

If it's under four, kisser, well, you are. If it's under four, yeah, which, let's be honest, as a married couple for a long time, some days I get one kiss.

Speaker 2:

And those days I only get one kiss too. What else you got?

Speaker 1:

That's very true. That's some stingy-ass kissing. That's embarrassingly stingy. And then, like you're behind Germany. Come on, fool, we can do better than being behind Germany. Okay, I've got a good one for you. So if you don't know Mike, mike tends to be a little bit of a road rager sometimes, because you know Me, sometimes Sometimes you get a little angry, you, you know you like to go fast, you don't like when people cut you off. We live near boston, yeah, you know, there's like boston is notoriously bad place to live. If you, if you, don't want to deal with a road rager usually it's in response I will say that you know you're not just out there pissing people off, but anyway, here's, here's, here's what the food digress.

Speaker 1:

I digress, but this is this is important, because giving you a kiss before we go on you know a road trip, or before we get into Boston, it's a great road safety tool.

Speaker 2:

Oh.

Speaker 1:

Listen to this. Researchers found that people who hit the road freshly kissed are much less aggressive.

Speaker 2:

That is. That's a good one. What I thought you were going to say when you're talking about the road rage thing is that when I road rage on, someone or someone tries to road rage on me. I should blow them kisses. Oh, that too. Yes, it doesn't say that I don't have that research.

Speaker 1:

That hasn't worked in the past.

Speaker 2:

It got me the finger.

Speaker 1:

I'm not trying to get shot, okay, don't be blowing. No kisses to somebody in Boston. Oh no, I hope I didn't just mess up. And that was the day.

Speaker 2:

Oh, now we finally know who he is.

Speaker 1:

But here's what they say. The researchers say that it results in fewer accidents, and obviously kissing while driving is not a good idea. I like how they wanted to make sure people knew that. Of course we know that. But less accidents, less road rage, just kisses. So basically, at that gas station we usually stop at right before you get into the crazy part of Boston, we'll kiss there. Okay, what about?

Speaker 2:

kissing on the hand and it might save our lives.

Speaker 1:

No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no no.

Speaker 2:

Because that would be nice If I was driving. You're just kissing my hand. A lot that would be nice.

Speaker 1:

I thought you were going to say something else. I'm so happy you didn't Honey.

Speaker 2:

this is a family show. Is it Not really, but let's go Okay.

Speaker 1:

So it's not just like a social behavior that humans have developed, of course animals also kiss, did you?

Speaker 2:

know that I'm listening. Okay, I'm interested.

Speaker 1:

Like dogs kiss. Yes, I know that dogs kiss Elephants. They put their trunks in each other's mouths.

Speaker 2:

That's cute.

Speaker 1:

That's like their way of kissing, like yeah, geese they touch beaks, nice. Anyway, orangutans they give kisses, like all the primates kiss.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, they got those big old lips yeah.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, okay, am I not giving you enough of what the fooks? Okay, how about this Last one? Kissing stimulates more than 100 billion nerve cells, whoa, and so, while happiness hormones and adrenaline course through our bodies, letting our hearts beat faster this is where those blood pressure studies come from is that there's 100 billion nerve cells activated when you kiss?

Speaker 2:

So you have that many nerve cells on your lips.

Speaker 1:

Mm-hmm.

Speaker 2:

Wow, yes, yes, yes, yes.

Speaker 1:

And bonus one there's when you give a proper kiss. A proper kiss meaning the one with 34 muscles, which is a French kiss.

Speaker 2:

Or the Thai kiss yeah.

Speaker 1:

Oh yeah, that one. These numbers would be up, that's above and beyond. Yeah, we're that one, that one, these numbers would be up. That's above and beyond. Yeah, you're not trying to break records. Okay, just a regular French kiss of deliciousness. Um 60 milligrams. You're swapping 60 milligrams of water, 0.5 milligrams of protein. Okay Okay, I know you're always worried about protein. I got your protein. Come get these lips.

Speaker 2:

I'm gonna see these gains.

Speaker 1:

Give me them gains, okay, 50 milligrams of gland secretion and 0.4 milligrams of salt, and up to 22,000 of bacteria. So yeah, no kissing booth for you.

Speaker 2:

No, no, no, no no.

Speaker 1:

Because if you're doing the kissing booth, I'm not down for 22,000 bacteria.

Speaker 2:

No, no, no, Multiply A little. Noah's Ark of bacteria.

Speaker 1:

No, no, no, no, no. I think we're good because we both like to kiss.

Speaker 2:

If we didn't like to kiss. That last one blew my mind, so congratulations.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, which one blew your mind the most?

Speaker 2:

The last one blew my mind. I just said that.

Speaker 1:

That one. Yeah, well, I'm just like.

Speaker 2:

Oh, that's right. We're having a conversation. That's the winner, winner, okay.

Speaker 1:

Well, there's five different types of kisses, so, just to be clear, we are talking about the ones where you touch lips.

Speaker 2:

Okay.

Speaker 1:

And then there's, like French kisses and. French kisses use tongue and air kisses is what you do in Beverly Hills when you see someone like oh my. God, you look great. That's air kiss, okay, okay, there's Spider-man kiss. You know spider-man kiss when the other person's upside down.

Speaker 2:

Oh, yeah, yeah, those are weird.

Speaker 1:

That's super weird.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Have you ever done that? And like, just looked like I didn't like it.

Speaker 2:

No, that. And her tongues Were like Brillo, patting each other. This is not good.

Speaker 1:

It's so gross. And then, of course, butterfly kiss.

Speaker 2:

Yeah With.

Speaker 1:

And then of course, Butterfly Kiss, yeah, with the eyes and then Eskimo Kiss, and you're missing one.

Speaker 2:

What? The Kiss of Death.

Speaker 1:

Wow.

Speaker 2:

I don't know, it's a Valentine's Day show.

Speaker 1:

Are you coming for my neck?

Speaker 2:

There is such thing, but I haven't experienced it because I'm alive.

Speaker 1:

Well, you know how I'm, like, a proponent of like not using injectables, and you know like.

Speaker 2:

Lip fillers.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, no, like I don't use any of that stuff. We're going to go back to our top 10 reasons.

Speaker 2:

So we got five.

Speaker 1:

So now we are at six.

Speaker 2:

Okay.

Speaker 1:

Facial muscle toning. Kissing engages numerous facial muscles, which can help tone them and potentially lead to firmer, more youthful looking skin.

Speaker 2:

Oh.

Speaker 1:

So when I'm looking old and decrepit, it's your fault if you aren't kissing me. So my hips are your fountain of youth. Yes, your kisses, and it's a good thing I like kissing you because I'm really advocating for it in this show. And it's a good thing I like kissing you because I'm really advocating for it in this show. But your kisses can make me avoid. You know, like a full on facelift, or you know, I don't know what, like injections.

Speaker 1:

The Botoxes and the yeah, all of this poop that people put in their face, but also like this is why there's such like a craze to do like facelifts with like finger, you know, like finger facelifts. Have you ever seen these? No, okay, well, you know, I'm a woman, so I get targeted.

Speaker 2:

I'm quelling the jokester in the finger facelifts, huh Okay.

Speaker 1:

Well, so basically your muscles in your face need to be worked out just like anything else. So people do like face yoga, yeah yeah, yeah, you've heard of that. And people do like gua sha you know I do that and people do like actually like face h-i-i-t like hit you know like they'll full on like, do these different exercises.

Speaker 1:

And if you are on instagram or tiktok, you see these kind of things. You can't do that, sorry. If you're on instagram or tiktok, you'll see these things all the time. Like, like, they'll target you. If you're a woman, especially and but nobody is like, hey, partner up with your husband and just kiss him for 30 minutes and that will tone your face Because if, like, you made out like you know 34. So, basically, if you want me to look like I'm, you know, in my 20s for the rest of my life, you just got to make out with me.

Speaker 2:

What do we got Number six?

Speaker 1:

We're on number seven.

Speaker 2:

Number seven Okay.

Speaker 1:

Improved oral health. Okay, so this is another reason that you should be kissing your loved one. Increased saliva production during kissing helps wash away food particles. Gross.

Speaker 2:

I don't know this one's losing me.

Speaker 1:

I don't want to be your toothbrush.

Speaker 2:

She went some Listerine kisses.

Speaker 1:

No, a little mouthwash we don't use Listerine in this house. Okay so food particles and bacteria, reducing the risk of cavities and gum disease, but I basically I think what they're saying is like you know, the saliva production. And so yeah, okay, brush your teeth first. Okay, this does not replace teeth brushing. Disclaimer those people just do gingivitis kisses, okay. Number eight emotional bonding Kissing boosts oxytocin levels, strengthening emotional connections and fostering feelings of affection and attachment.

Speaker 2:

That's well said.

Speaker 1:

So you got your whole. Part is the commentary.

Speaker 2:

That is well said. Like, how can you talk like that? What the fuck With those cute lips.

Speaker 1:

Oh boy.

Speaker 2:

No, I agree with all of that. I think that's well said. Like what else can you say aside from the more you kiss, the happier you get, the better your life gets?

Speaker 1:

It's emotional bonding is number eight, okay, number nine elevated mood. This is why I'm so angry Elevated mood. Elevated mood the release of dopamine during kissing stimulates the brain's pleasure centers, enhancing mood and feelings of happiness these lips will do that for you. That's all you got, that's all I got. I love you okay, so you have nothing to say about elevated mood.

Speaker 2:

No, I have a lot to say about elevated mood. It makes a lot of sense because when you're with someone and you're kissing, you're probably not thinking about deadlines or taxes. You're thinking about how nice, it feels to be connected with someone, so of course you're going to have elevated moods.

Speaker 1:

That's all I was looking for, good job.

Speaker 2:

Thank you.

Speaker 1:

Nice Welcome. Welcome to the podcast.

Speaker 2:
